ONICHA is a community in the Onicha local government in the old Ohaozara of Ebonyi State in eastern Nigeria. Having a general population of about sixty thousand people (men, women and children included)
Blessed with a lot of natural resources like the concrete and metamorphic rocks, flowing streams and rivers.

A field survey of the Onicha people reveals the following:

The Onicha people live in small family colonies and a bit distant from each other. Noted for their unity in purpose and hospitality especially to strangers, they seems to be a strong community in the Ohaozara clan.

Mainly farmers on Food and Cash crops like RICE, CASSAVA, YAM, PALM e.t.c, their woman are rather hard working and highly industrious.

Survey reveals that these people are allegiance to many different beliefs and culture among which are

SHAMANISM

SPIRITISM

IDOLATRY

CULTISM

and RE-INCARNATION.

Howbeit, Christianity has the upper hand but dominated in the below percentages
PENTECOSTAL 49%

ORTHODOX 31%

SPIRITUAL 8%

CHARISMATIC 3%

While others constitute 11%.

The response of the gospel among it`s people is high on the female side as the men are not fully responding to the Gospel because of the cultural background, heritage, family meetings, and other reasons not too fit for publishing.
